🎉 PR Hall of Fame Nominations Are Open—Celebrate 75 Years of PR!

This year is extra special at Players Retreat: we’re celebrating our 75th anniversary and the 20th year of ownership by our very own Gus Gusler! To honor this milestone, we’re inviting you to help us commemorate the people who make PR so memorable—our PR Hall of Fame nominations are officially open.

Nominations are being accepted through Friday, Oct. 10, 2025, and anyone can nominate—so get ready to celebrate your favorites, your best friends, longtime regulars, or even those unforgettable characters who embody the spirit of PR.

Who can be nominated? Think anyone who makes PR feel like home:

• Your favorite bartender or server
• That longtime regular who knows everyone by name
• A politician or public figure who’s part of PR history
• Fans (and yes, even rival fans!) who bring energy to the bar
• Employees, both past and present, who helped shape PR’s heart and soul

As Gus would say, “This list is for people who mean a lot to PR—and PR means a lot to them.” ❤️

Once nominations close, a committee of past Hall of Fame members will vote on Monday, Oct. 13, 2025. Winners will be announced later that month and celebrated at a special Inductee Dinner benefiting the Frankie Lemmon Foundation in February 2026. Details on the dinner, table sponsorships, and tickets will be shared as the event approaches.

All inductees receive a custom red jacket with the PR logo and, in true PR fashion, are lovingly roasted by friends and family during the dinner. Past inductees include longtime employees, regulars, and local legends like David Crabtree of WRAL, former mayor Nancy McFarlane, and Gabi—the very first employee Gus ever hired.

A Plaque to Remember

Every inductee is added to the PR Hall of Fame plaque, proudly displayed year-round in the restaurant. It’s our way of celebrating those who make PR so special, and a reminder of the incredible people who have left their mark on our community.
