For 74 years, Players Retreat has been more than just a bar and restaurant—it’s been a home away from home for generations of Raleigh locals, students, and visitors alike. Founded by Bernie and Mickey Hanula and carried on by Pete Jarrell and Gus Gusler, PR has stood the test of time, keeping its warm, welcoming spirit alive.
To celebrate our 74th birthday, we’re throwing it back with $0.74 hot dogs today only (Friday, Feb.28, 2025)—because what’s a PR celebration without great food and good company? Plus, with all of the March Madness buzz, there’s no better place to cheer on the Wolfpack than right here in the heart of downtown Raleigh.
Join us in raising a glass to 74 incredible years, and here’s to many more! We’re open Monday-Thursday, 11:30 a.m.–12 a.m.; Friday, 11:30 a.m.-1 a.m.; Saturday, 11 a.m.-1 a.m.; and Sunday 11 a.m.-midnight. Come by, grab a bite, and be a part of the PR tradition. Cheers!
