Making a Mark: Coach Wade Celebrates Wolfpack Tradition at Players Retreat

There is something special about the bond between NC State and the Players Retreat. For 75 years, the PR has been the living room of the Wolfpack—a place where legends are born over burgers and the history of NC State athletics is literally written on the walls.

This week, as the university prepares for its annual Day of Giving on Wednesday, March 25, 2026, we were honored to see a familiar face highlight Players Retreat in a very special way.

Our new head basketball coach, Will Wade, recently shared a video message about what makes this community so unique. While he’s only been in Raleigh for a year, it’s clear he already “gets” what it means to be part of the Pack.

In the video, Coach Wade shared a sentiment that truly touched us:

“In my one year at NC State, NC State has made a major mark on mefrom meeting our passionate fans all across the state, to my first time in Players Retreat and seeing our rich tradition through the photos.”

He went on to talk about his morning runs through our beautiful campus and the energy he feels from the students every day. It’s that same energy we feel every time the “Red and White” faithful pack our booths.

A Huge Thank You to Coach Wade

Coach, thank you for choosing Players Retreat as one of your first stops in Raleigh. It was an absolute pleasure dining with you, and we love that our walls, filled with decades of Wolfpack memories, could help tell the story of the tradition you are now leading. Consider your seat at the PR always reserved!

Make Your Mark on March 25

Coach Wade is “making his mark” on athletics this year, emphasizing that our student-athletes need support both on and off the court. We encourage all of our PR regulars and the wider Wolfpack family to join in. Whether it’s supporting scholarships, facilities, or student wellness, every gift helps ensure the future of the traditions we love.

Cheer on the Pack at Players Retreat
